स्वतंत्रता दिवस आज के लगभग दो सौ वर्ष पहले भारत अंग्रेजों के अधीन था तथा पराधीनता की पीड़ा तथा यातना से जूझ रहा था । स्वतंत्रता प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को पसंद होती है । पशु-पक्षी, इन्सान सभी स्वतन्त्र रहना चाहते हैं । भारतीयों ने भी आजादी के लिए संघर्ष किया । नौजवानों, बुजुर्गों, स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों, क्रांतिकारियों ने अपने प्राण की आहुति देकर भारत को अंग्रेजों से भाव पराधीनता की बेड़ियों से छुड़वाया ।

“शहीदों की चिताओं पर लगेंगे हर बरस मेले, वतन पर मिटने वालों का, यही बाकी निशां होगा ।”

सोने की चिड़िया कहलाने वाला हमारा देश भारत भी आपसी फूट के कारण सैकड़ों वर्षों तक गुलामी की जंजीरों में जकड़ा रहा । पराधीनता के उस समय में भारतीयों को पीड़ा, अपमान, शोषण एवं घुटन का जीवन व्यतीत करना पड़ा तथा स्वाधीनता प्राप्त करने के लिए अनेक लोगों को अपना बलिदान देना पड़ा तथा संघर्ष करना पड़ा । सन् 1857 ई. से लेकर 1947 ई. तक का इतिहास इस बात का गवाह है कि झांसी की रानी, तांत्या टोपे से लेकर चंद्रशेखर आजाद, बिस्मिल, तिलक, गोपाल कृष्ण गोखले, लाला लाजपत राय, महात्मा गांधी, जवाहर लाल नेहरू, भगत सिंह आदि के प्रयासों से हमें अंग्रेजों की गुलामी से आजादी मिली । उस दिन से प्रतिवर्ष यह राष्ट्रीय त्योहार पूरे देश में बड़े हर्षोल्लास से मनाया जाता है तथा जिन लोगों के संघर्ष से आज हम आजादी का जीवन व्यतीत कर रहे हैं, उन्हें याद किया जाता है । इस दिन देश को उन्नति के पथ पर आगे बढ़ने व भेद- भाव को मिटाने की प्रतिज्ञा ली जाती है । इस दिन प्रत्येक भारतवासी के मन में देश प्रेम की भावना जागृत होती है और उन्हें देश की स्वतन्त्रता व एकता बनाए रखने के लिए प्रेरित करती है.

15 अगस्त, 1947 को भारत के प्रथम प्रधानमंत्री श्री जवाहर लाल नेहरू ने दिल्ली के ऐतिहासिक लाल किले पर तिरंगा झंडा फहराया था तभी से यह परंपरा चली आ रही है । राष्ट्रीय पर्व पूरे राष्ट्र में हर्षोल्लास से मनाया जाता है पर दिल्ली में लाल किले पर इस दिन नजारा विशेष ही होता है । इस दिनों शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की जाती है । पूरे भारत में सार्वजनिक अवकाश रहता है । इस दिन प्रात .काल ही लोग लाल किले के सामने एकत्रित हो जाते हैं । प्रधानमंत्री झंडा फहराते हैं तथा देश के नाम संदेश देते हैं । तोपों की सलामी दी जाती है । विद्यालयों, कार्यालयों तथा सार्वजनिक स्थलों पर कार्यक्र्रम होते है । इस दिन हमें इस बात का विशेष ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि हम उस आजादी की कीमत को पहचानें तथा उसकी रक्षा करें तथा निजी स्वार्थों को त्यागकर परस्पर प्रेम- भाव से रहें । देश की स्वाधीनता, एकता एवं अखण्डता की रक्षा के लिए सदैव तैयार रहना चाहिए । ऐसा कोई भी कार्य नहीं करना चाहिए जिसके कारण देश में अनेकता फैले । सभी धर्मों का सम्मान करना चाहिए तथा देश की उन्नति के लिए अपने कर्त्तव्य का पालन करना चाहिए

स्वतन्त्रता दिवस पर हर्ष और उल्लास: स्वतन्त्रता पाप्ति का समाचार सुनकर भारतवासी प्रसन्नता से झूम उठे । भारत के एक कोने से लेकर दूसरे कोने तक हर्ष की लहर दौड़ गई : -15 अगस्त की भोर भी क्या भोर थी । प्रत्येक गली संगीत से गूंज उठी । यह संगीत हृदय का संगीत था ।

उठो सोने वालो, सवेरा हुआ है, वतन के शहीदों का फेरा हुआ है ।

दिल्ली तो उस दिन नई नवेली दुल्हन बन गई थी । ठीक प्रातः आठ बजे स्वतन्त्रता संग्राम के महान. सेनानी जवाहर लाल नेहरू ने लाल किले पर राष्ट्रीय झंडा फहराया । उस दिन प्रत्येक पल ने एक उत्सव का’ रूप धारण कर लिया था । अनेक कार्यक्रम रखे गए । शहीदों को भावभीनी श्रद्धांजलियां अर्पित की गईं । भारत के स्वर्णिम भविष्य -के- लिए अनेक योजनाएं बनाई गईं । 15 अगस्त की रात्रि को दीप माला की गई ।

हमारा कर्त्तव्य: भारत स्वतन्त्र हो गया लेकिन अभी उसके सामने देश के निर्माण का काम था । यह काम धीरे- धीरे हो रहा है । खेद की बात है कि 65 वर्ष व्यतीत हो जाने पर भी भारत अपने सपने को साकार नहीं कर पाया । इसका कारण व्यक्तिगत स्वार्थों की प्रबलता है । दलबन्दी के कारण भी काम में विशेष गति नहीं आती । हमारा कर्त्तव्य है कि देश की उन्नति तथा इसकी स्वतन्त्रता बनाए रखने के लिए ईमानदारी का परिचय दें । प्रत्येक नागरिक कर्मठता का पाठ सीखे और अपने चरित्र बल को ऊंचा उठाए । जनता एवं सरकार दोनों को मिलकर देश के प्रति अपने कर्त्तव्य को पूरा करना है । युवक देश की रीढ़ की हड्डी के समान हैं । उन्हें देश के गौरव को बनाए रखने के लिए तथा उसे सम्पन्न एवं शक्तिशाली बनाने में अपना योगदान देना चाहिए ।

उपसंहार: स्वतन्त्रता दिवस का मंगल पर्व इस बात का साक्षी है कि स्वतन्त्रता एक अमूल्य वस्तु है । इसके लिए हमने महान् त्याग किया है । अनेक देश- भक्तों ने भारत माता के सिर पर ताज रखने के लिए अपना सब कुछ त्याग दिया है । इस दिन हमें एकता का पाठ पढ़ना चाहिए और देश की रक्षा का व्रत धारण करना चाहिए

A very warm good morning to the respected teachers and my dear friends gathered here. Today we are gathered here to celebrate this auspicious occasion of Independence day on 15^th of August. We celebrate this day with lots of enthusiasm and joy every year because our country got freedom at this day in 1947 from the British rule. We are here to celebrate nth number of independence day. It is great and most significant day for all Indians. People of India had suffered cruel behavior of Britishers for many years. Today we have freedom in almost all fields such as education, sports, transportation, business, etc just because of the years of struggle of our forefathers. Before 1947, people were not so free even they were restricted to have rights on their own body and mind. They were slave of Britishers and forced to follow all the orders of them. Today we are free to do anything because of the great Indian leaders who struggled hard for many years to get freedom against British rule.
Independence day is celebrated all over India with much pleasure. This day is of great importance to all Indian citizens as it gives us opportunity to remember all those freedom fighters who had sacrificed their lives just for giving us a beautiful and peaceful life. Earlier to the independence, people were not allowed to get education, eat healthy food and live normal life like us. We should be grateful to those events responsible for the freedom in India. Indians were treated more badly than slaves by the Britishers just to fulfill their meaningless orders.
Some of the great freedom fighters of India are Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhiji, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Lala Lajpath Ray, Bhagat Singh, Khudi Ram Bose and Chandra Sekhar Azad. They were famous patriots who struggled hard for the freedom of India till the end of their life. We cannot imagine that horrible moment struggled by our forefathers. Now, after many years of independence our country is on the right track of development. Today our country is a well established democratic country all over the world. Gandhiji was great leader who taught us about effective way of freedom like ahimsa and sathyagraha methods. Gandhi dreamed of an independent India with the non violence and peace.
India is our mother country and we are its citizens. We should always be ready to save it from the bad people. It is our responsibility to lead our country ahead and make it a best country of the world.

Very good morning to the honorable Chief Guest of the day, respected teachers, parents and my all dear friends. I wish you all a very Happy Independence Day. We all know the reason of get together here in such a big crowd. We all are excited celebrating this great day in such an excellent manner. We are gathered here to celebrate nth independence day of our nation. First of all we hoist our honorable national flag then give a salute to all the heroic deeds of the freedom fighters. I am feeling so proud to be an Indian citizen. I have such a great chance to give a speech on the Independence Day in front of you all. I would like to say thanks to my respected class teacher that she has given me an opportunity to share my views with you all about the freedom of India.
We celebrate Independence day every year on 15^th of August because India got freedom on the night of 14^th of August in 1947. Just after the independence of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had given a speech on the Independence day in New Delhi. When people all over the world were sleeping, people in India were waking to get freedom and life from the British rule. Now, after the independence, India has been a largest democratic country in the world. Our country is a most famous country for the saying of unity in diversity. It face many incidents testing its secularism however Indian people become always ready to answer with their unity.
Because of the hard struggles of our forefathers we are now able to enjoy the freedom and breathe fresh air according to our wish. Getting freedom from the Britishers was really an impossible task our forefathers did with their continuous efforts. We can never forget their works and always remember them through the history. We cannot remember all the deeds of all the freedom fighters in a day only however can give them a heartily salute. They would always be in our memories and way of inspiration to us whole life.
Today is the very significant day for all Indians which we celebrate remembering sacrifices of great Indian leaders who had given their lives for the freedom and prosperity of the country. Freedom of India was possible because of the cooperation, sacrifice and involvement of all the Indians. We should value and salute all the Indian citizens because they are the real national heroes. We should keep faith in the secularism and never be separate to maintain the unity so that no one can break and rule again.
We should take an oath today of being highly responsible and well-educated citizens of the tomorrow India. We should sincerely perform our duty and do work hard to get the goal and successfully lead this democratic nation.
